technique twenty-seconds 22 April 2013

We have not had one of these tutorials for a while, and I would like to thank design team member Wilma for this wonderful one!!! This is the technique that she used for her first layout at a design team member here at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge!! Here is what Wilma has to say to us:

My challenge with my DT layout is to use some of my stash.
I bought a lot of ugly paper when I started scrapbooking.
I also can't stop buying ribbon and lace.
Sometimes in multipacks, so I have a LOT as you see here.
Why keep buying it? Just can't stop myself .

So here a way to use it:

Step 1: Grab  an ugly paper , glue it on cardboard. I always take cardboard or canvas with multi-medium.

Step 2: Cut fibers, ribbon, lace, fabric, etc and glue it on your page.

Step 3 : You can bend it between to let it dry straight.

Step 4: When it is completely dry, dab royal gesso all over your page. I use the cheap gesso for this kind of projects.

Step 5 : Let dry , it will look like this, beautiful texture !

Step 6 : Start spraying your mists. You have to use bright sprays to get a pastel look at the end. I used dylusions, but sometimes I take color wash.

Step 7 : Try to match it with the picture you are going to use. (don't forget there will be gesso over it, so the look becomes pastel)

The finished look , a matt background in pastel !
