our guest designer for may 2013

So excited that Amy Voorthuis has agreed to be our guest designer here this month.  I've enjoyed her layouts she makes for our challenges, and was hoping she'd say yes to our invitation to guest this month!  Welcome Amy - so glad to have you here!!

Hi my name is Amy Voorthuis and I’m 35 years young. I live in The Netherlands with the love of my life Jeroen and our handsome son Kevin (8).

I love to be creative in every way I can, seeing my job as an optician I need to be kind off creative anyways…..fixing all those glasses ;)

I’ve been scrapbooking for over 9 years now and I love it. I got introduced with scrapbooking by my aunt Ellen who lives in the sunny state Florida…..

I think she did an awesome job because I’m hooked for life.

My style is eehhmm well I like to think it’s a romantic style don’t really know how to call it.

Love to try everything “new” I like. I love to use flowers, metal art and designed chipboard pieces on my layouts.

Scrapbooking is such a nice way to keep your (pictured) memories well organized while having a blast at the same time.

I’m so happy Anne asked me to be a guest designer for Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge  this month.

I forgot to apply for the DT Call and I was a little sad about that so this is a nice way to still be designing for all off you guys/ladies.

I hope you all like my work,

Love Amy

our freaking guest designer for April 2013

My name is Keren Tamir and I'm 38 years old. I am a wife to a wonderful husband who is very supportive of my scrapbooking hobby and a mother of two amazing kids; a 11 year old boy and a 6 years old girl. I've been scrapbooking for 10 years and I mainly scrapbook about my family. I love to create and experiment with many different mediums and techniques.

My style is mainly Shabby chic combined with mixed media techniques. I use lots of flowers and vines in my projects. I also love using pastes and mists on my layouts. My style is always evolving and that’s one of the things I love about this art.

One of the main reasons I started scrapbooking was to preserve memories and photos for my children. However over the couple of years, I’ve started to enjoy another aspect of scrapbooking. I love the artistic outlet that it gives me. I love to create and I’m passionate about what I do.

I'm glad to be guest designing for Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge this month!!

Hope you enjoy my creations!!

Keren

our freaking featured guest designer for february 2013!!!!

So excited to have Diana Fisher this month as our featured guest designer.  I met Diana when I used to play her AWESOME sketch challenge Sketchy Thursdays.  Broke my heart when she closed the blog - but I am so happy to still see her and her work around at places that I hang out.  She is a wonderful  designer, and has been a member of many prestigious design teams. I know you ladies will welcome her warmly, and be greatly inspired by her reveals here this month!

HI! I'm Diana Fisher and I am so excited to be guesting here for February. I have "known" Anne for a few years, back when I hosted Sketchy Thursdays, and I was thrilled when she asked me to play along here for February.

You may already know me from my design team spots on Pink Paislee, Imaginisce, Ormolu or Samantha Walker. I am also a blog coordinator for Scrapbook Circle and a DT member for Cocoa Daisy. You can also find me as a contributor to PaperHaus Magazine or on the Paper Issues team.

When I'm not scrapbooking I am the publisher for NextStepU Magazine — an education company that helps high school students prepare with their choices after graduation. I've been married to my husband for the past 8 years and we have a son who is six years old. My boys are often the subject for my scrapbook pages.

All of this keeps me busy and sane at the same time. I don't like to sit still and a constant stream of creativity keeps me going. You can visit my blog at http://designbydiana.blogspot.com. Thanks again to Anne for having me here!

our winning guest designer for february 2013 ...

So happy to have Karen Tarpley as a guest designer drawn from amongst our participants in our December 2012 challenge.  Please welcome Karen!!!

My name is Karen Tarpley and I am a former teacher, turned stay at home mom and now part-time professional photographer. I picked up photography as a hobby back in the days of film and started scrapbooking to find a way to display all of my prints other than in frames. Back then, it seemed our only embellishments were stickers and diecuts! I discovered the online community of scrapbooking about 4 years ago and it has reignited my love of scrapbooking (OK, so the two princesses are partly to blame for that, too). I also picked up the hobby of photography again (but digital format now) and turned the hobby into a business a little over a year ago. When asked to scrap about my passion, I immediately knew which pictures I would use. It's not often I take my girls on our own location photo shoots, but when I do, I love the results! My girls, photography and scrapbooking - all my passions :) You can follow my crafting adventures at www.paisleypetalsblog.blogspot.com.

Keep your eyes on this blog! - We will soon announce our featured guest designer for February!!

our featured guest designer for january 2013 ...

Well, we are starting the year off right.  Our first featured guest designer of the year is none other than  Julie Tucker-Wolek, who is no stranger to scrapbookers all over the globe.

I first met Julie when I used to play along with her challenges at These are a Few of my Favorite Things.  That was one of my favourite challenge sites before she closed it in 2011. Julie and I were on the design team together over at Scrapbooker's Anonymous - an awesome challenge site.  Julie was also the social director over at Sketchy Thursdays - another fabulous challenge website. She has been on the design team, or a guest designer at numerous other well-known companies and blogs.

Nowadays Julie hangs out at her own blog, and is on the design team at Lessology and at Scrap Africa.  She is one of the greatest encouragers out there for fellow scrappers. She visits many scrapbooking blogs each day and leaves positive comments for others. Her upbeat attitude is very catchy!

Welcome Julie!!

My name is Julie Tucker-Wolek and I have been scrapping since my son was born 15 years ago, but really got into it as a major passion about 6 years ago when my daughter was born. I create everything! Cards, layouts and altered projects!

Visit Julie at Life with the Tucker-Wolek Clan :)

Our winning participant guest designer for January 2013

We were so delighted when our friend and regular participant in our challenges, Lizzy Hill was the winner of our random draw amongst November's challenges participants to be one of our January 2013 guest designers.  Lizzy participants in many challenge blogs, so we know many of you know her and her lovely  work already.  She is a friendly soul, and a great encourager to others who play along with various scrapbooking challenges. Welcome Lizzy!!!!

My name is Lizzy Hill & I began scrapping in 2009 after coming home from a trip overseas. Mum encouraged me to ‘give it a go’ as a way of getting my photos sorted. It opened up a whole new world which I just adore. Blogging seemed to be a natural extension of scrapping – thus I’ve managed to combine a whole pile of ‘loves’ - photography, writing & scrapping!

My style is madly eclectic. I’ll give anything a go…my fave embellie atm has to be Washi tape – oh! And buttons/badges are up there, too. I scrap cards & OTP’s [off the page projects] as well as layouts. I don’t consider myself artistic – but I do really enjoy colour combinations. That may come from my dim, dark past as a hairdresser! I was also an English teacher…but my boys are grown up, I have my first grand-child, & I’m pretty much enjoying the good life these days. Not complaining at all…

This is my 2nd term on the Scrap Friends Design Team, which is my first serious ‘gig’ & that’s been a learning curve that I’ve totally enjoyed. I’ve also been published a fair bit in Scrapbooking Memories – a fab Australian scrapping mag.

Basically, I LOVE the ‘love’ of belonging to the Scrappy Community…blog hops & challenges are such fun!  So on that note, I hope you’ll join in with AFSC…it was one of the first challenges I ‘had a go’ at, & I still enjoy them immensely! Happy scrapping…..

our guest designers for december 2012

Sandra has been playing along with us regularly, and we thank her for sending us the suggestion for this month's 1 December 2012 challenge.  We are very pleased to have her as a guest designer this month, and recommend that you visit her blog to see her lovely work!!

I'm a happily married retired lady and my husband and I have four adult children and six grandchildren who are subjects of my scrapbooking. We live in Australia and love to travel our beautiful country and intend to do more now we're retired.

I started scrapbooking in 2007 and don't really have a style of my own yet because I swap and change while trying to guess what the challenge sites want to see. Sometimes I love nice clean lines and other times I love to distress, fussy cut and ink everything.

I feel that I'm improving each day and have started to Art Journal and use mixed media; it's fun getting messy and I love to see what the end result brings. I've found this a great way to learn how to use mixed media and then transfer it to a scrapbook page.

Dani participated in last month's challenge and her name was drawn to be our guest designer this month. Her work is lovely! Please visit her blog to see for yourself.

I'm Dani Cristina,
already 30 years old, living with my husband in the sunny state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I knew the art of scrapbooking in 2010, but before I occupied myself with oil paintings and drawings, then I fell in love with this new way to preserve memories and share with people so friendly.
I'd say my style is artistic, like working with textures and technique Mixed Media too.
I'm happy with the invitation and I hope you enjoy my participation.

So excited this month to feature Margaret Walz and her work.  Margaret has been playing along with our challenges for sometime, and we love her interpretations of our challenges. So pleased to introduce Margaret to those of you who don't know her!! Welcome Mar!!!

Hello my name is Margaret, but everyone calls me Mar. I wasn't going to Scrapbook, but fell victim to the addiction when my daughter opened Scrapbook Fantasies in 2003. I am a widow with two children and five grandchildren, all of whom feature in my creations.

our guest designer for june 2012 ...

We are blessed here to have had so many awesome designers and guest designers, and I thank them all.  Here is our latest guest designer, who will be with us for the month of June.  She is a regular contributor to our challenges:

Karmeleiro

Hi,

my name is Maria, but I'm known as Karmeleiro. You probably think, that my nick is strange. Yes, indeed! It comes from my cats' names: Karmel and Eiro. I live in Poland at the Baltic Sea. I'm a mother of two kids: Bruno (5) and Zofia (1.5). I'm a teacher but now I'm taking care of the younger daughter so I have more time to scrap and craft. I fell in love with that hobby 2 years ago and I feel more and more involved in. Some time ago I became LO and mini album addicted! I love that innocent time while playing with paper and stuff. You may find hand made flowers and some fabrics in my works. I can't live without distress inks, love pastel colors but sometimes I turn to darker ones.

Currently I'm a member of The ScrapCake and Rapakivi DTs. They produce fabulous papers! I also run my mini challenge blog and with three other fantastic girls a national website “Scrapujace Polki” that gathers most of Polish Scrappers. We let them play and take part in different kinds of scrap&paper crafting challenges there.

I feel extremely excited and honoured to be Guest Designer here at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge! I even still can't believe it! I hope that my works inspire you in some ways and you have much fun while making your own projects!

You can visit Karmeleiro's blog here!!

november's guest design team member

My name is Anne and I am French. I live in a small rural village in the UK with my two children and my husband Andrew. I run my own company, teaching French to young children and adults.

I come from a very crafty family, starting with a grandmother who knitted and crocheted anything she could, including fruit bowls !!.  My mum used to knit and sew most of my clothes and I have lots of embarrassing pictures to prove it! She then tried her hands at framing and quilting and she is very good at it too. My sister started knitting at a very young age and designed a whole new wardrobe for my dolls and teddies. She has since become an expert quilter and a fantastic artist.

And then, there was me !! I have, unfortunately, not inherited any sewing or knitting skills, but I have always enjoyed making cards and just messing around with crafty things. I only came across scrapbooking , a year and a bit ago, after meeting the lovely Lisa (http://scrappyfairies.blogspot.com/ ) at swimming. She and I just started chatting one day instead of watching the progress of our darling cherubs! (As you do !! ). She was the first person who showed me a mini book and pictures of some lay outs she had done. I can honestly say I had never seen any pieces of art as beautiful and meaningful as these.  Lisa has since then become a good friend and remains my inspiration and role model.

I would like to describe my style as clean and simple but in reality I am a very messy scrapper and my style often reflects my personality! I love to scrap moments in time more than big events and I hope that future generations will look at my work and understand where they come from. I love pretty papers and ribbons, anything girly and lacy. I love working with masking tapes and stickers but I struggle using mists and paints.

Anne's blog can be found at hobby d'un jour!!
